About The Project

ABOUT KATY

Katy Jones is a Devon-based wedding photographer specialising in a modern, emotive style and luxury destination weddings.

I’ve been working with Katy on various projects (including her branding) over the years, and was excited when she asked me to work on her new Squarespace website design, as with my own wedding approaching this year this gave me a unique perspective as the perfect ideal client too.

PROJECT GOALS

  • Katy felt her original website wasn’t reflective of the quality of her imagery and skills

  • The new website needed to ooze the ‘luxury’/high end energy she was trying to attract in her clients after recently raising her prices

  • Her original website was DIYed and on an older version of Squarespace, and she felt she’d taken it as far as her skills would allow

How I applied my signature ‘3S’ Approach’

STRATEGY

As a bride-to-be myself, I approached the customer journey from the perspective of being the exact ideal client myself! Eg. offering a simple gallery page with an easy-to-view overview of all Katy’s best images and her style without having to click into each wedding project.

STYLE

Katy’s photography is incredibly emotive and impactful, so I wanted the website to reflect that through using large, impactful headings and bold, dark sections.

We gave the photography pride-of-place with lots of full width image sections too.

SIMPLICITY

I made sure along the way that Katy would be able to easily make changes to the website and galleries as her portfolio grows, and prioritised usability & accessibility over fancy effects while still using features that create impact.

“Anna, you completely nailed it.”

What katy said:

“It’s made me emotional. I’m looking at my work on the new site and it’s making me feel so proud of how far I’ve come. So thank you, so much.”

The project highlights:

  • Katy feels excited to share a website that feels like it’s doing her work the justice it deserves

  • “I am loving my new site and getting so much great feedback about it.”
