My Must-Have Time-saving Tool for Logo Designers (that saves me HOURS each week!)
As a brand designer, one of the most tedious parts of the logo design process is exporting files - it takes AGES!
For each client, it’s important to provide them with a range of different file types for their different variations and colour versions of their logos - file types for using their logos on the web, for print etc. and it’s a pretty boring process going through and saving all of those files manually yourself.
Thankfully there is an incredible tool that can help us by completely automating this process, by exporting all the files you need into their own organised folders in just 5 minutes.
I am all about productivity and being as effective with our time as possible so we can have more time for things that either earn us money or bring us joy (or both, hopefully!), so I wanted to share this tool for other designers too!
Introducing: The logo package Express
The Logo Package Express* is an Adobe Illustrator extension that you can download as software and install as a tool to use within your usual Adobe Illustrator workspace when you’re creating logos for your branding clients.
It allows you to automatically generate all the different logo layout and colour versions you need, and then export them into all the different file types you or your client could possibly need as well (think, JPEG, PNG, SVG, PDF, AI etc.) - all within seconds in front of your eyes with the click of a button!
Select the different elements of the logo you’ve created and click ‘Make Web Logos’ or ‘Make Print Logos’…
The extension will run automatically and generate all these different designs, ready for you to click ‘Export’!
What are the benefits of the logo package express?
This whole process used to take me at least an hour per client, and now it literally takes 5 minutes to create over 50+ files, all neatly organised into folders for the different layouts, colours, and file types. Here’s what the end result looks like:
Top-level folders with the different logo layouts…
Second-level folders with the logo layouts in different colour versions…
Third-level folders with folders for Digital or Print file types…
All different file types for use for web or print!
As you can see, not only does this save you a tonne of time exporting all these files manually and setting up the folders yourself, but it also looks really professional for the client and they know exactly where to look for what file type.
You can also customise the different file versions, folder naming, and what file types it exports as well all within the extension settings for each client if you like.
